Information Services
The Chamber has data bases containing up-to-date information about Spanish, European and newly-created companies. In addition, it offers business reports and publishes the Salmon Business Pages – a Guide to Suppliers and Customers (Páginas Salmón), a directory with information about the services offered by 24,000 Valencian businesses.
Setting up Business
Through the Entrepreneurial One-Stop Shop, the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia makes it easier to set up new businesses by bringing all the administrative procedures required to start a new company together under one roof. The Chamber offers courses and gives advice to entrepreneurs on how to put together a business plan. Business incubators offer premises to new companies and provide support to entrepreneurs at the start of their business venture. In addition, there are special assistance programmes aimed at businesswomen.
Foreign Trade
The Chamber offers a wide range of services to exporting firms and companies which are interested in exporting. These services help firms to break into foreign markets and consolidate existing international markets by means of trade missions and foreign trade fairs, visits to foreign countries and trade missions made up of foreign buyers.
The Chamber of Commerce helps companies which do not export to start their dealings in international markets by means of the PIPE programme – the Foreign Trade Promotion Initiation Plan – which includes the assistance of an expert advisor who helps the company to put together its export plans.
In addition, the Chamber provides businesses with a series of tools which allow them to increase their knowledge and understanding of foreign markets and to improve their marketing strategies. These include CABI (search for information about foreign trade), CACEX (questions and answers regarding foreign trade), DIAPEX (international trade assessment), the Directory of International Companies and foreign trade surveys.
Companies which are interested in exporting can join the Chamber’s Export Consortium programme, through which they can contact other businesses which are interested in exporting and set up an export consortium. This is a formula which allows companies to gain joint access to foreign markets.
Many of the procedures and much of the documentation required to export can also be dealt with by the Chamber of Commerce, for example certificates of origin of goods, the authentication of trade documents, ATA carnets and visas, among other things.
Industry-specific business services
The Chamber offers specific services for the retail industry (point of sale analysis, quality certification, franchise promotion), the transport sector (transport consortia, conferences and seminars, legislation), the tourist industry (sector-related reports, the Spanish Tourism Quality System) and the industrial sector (industrial development programmes, workshops, the PymesSí programme). The Chamber also aims to promote good environmental practices among companies by means of services such as the By-Product Exchange and by offering assessment and advice on environmental regulations.
Economic Reports
The Chamber periodically produces reports on the economic framework in which businesses work and other structural aspects of the economy which are essential to efficient business management.
Legal / Tax Issues
The Arbitration Court of Valencia, a service provided by the Chamber of Commerce itself, allows the swift resolution of disputes between companies.
Training
The Business School of the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia offers a wide variety of courses specifically designed for companies. These include courses in business studies, marketing management, economic and financial management and human resources management as well as an advanced management programme and management refresher courses. In addition, the Business School also offers master’s degrees and postgraduate courses in international trade, management and business studies, management and marketing. Finally the School also organises tailor-made training for companies and tutor-led distance learning.
